Barnes off the mark
as Rovers pummel Mariners
Wednesday 12th
August, 2009
By Richard Ault
John Barnes's
celebrated his first victory as Tranmere manager as he saw his
team tear apart League Two Grimsby Town during a deadly ten
minute spell in the first half at Prenton Park.
Goalkeeper Luke Daniels made a key save from Barry Conlon with
the scores level at 0-0, but Rovers soon got themselves on top
as McLaren, Thomas-Moore (pen), Curran and Edds fired them into
a four goal lead.
The
visitors had their chances again after the break but 'keeper
Daniels was again on fine form to thwart them.
Full
report to follow.
