McCready
makes Rovers return

Former
defender Chris McCready has rejoined Rovers on loan from League
Two outfit Northampton Town.
The
versatile defender was a popular player during his first spell
at the club when Ronnie Moore brought him to Prenton Park from
Crewe in 2006. Despite a fine season where he was an
almost ever-present as Rovers chased a play-off spot, he was
released and re-joined Crewe on a two-year deal.
More injury
troubles followed Chris to Gresty Road, and following the clubs
relegation last season, he joined Northampton Town but has
fallen out of the starting eleven at Sixfields recently.
Northampton
boss Ian Sampson said: "This is a good move for Chris and
will give him the chance to play some football,
"The good form of others in the squad have limited the
opportunities for Chris lately and he needs to be playing
football.
"Hopefully he will get that and help Tranmere out at the same
time. He knows the area and knows the club and I hope the move
will work out well."
McCready's
arrival may well spell the end of Marlon Broomes' time at
Prenton Park and is the first January signing at Prenton Park.
Rovers are
still believed to be interested in a deal to bring another
Wirral lad, Andy Robinson, in from Leeds United, but finances
remain a stumbling block.
Meanwhile,
it's widely believed ex-England striker Michael Ricketts will be
released by Tranmere this week.
