Tranmere legend Pat Nevin backed current caretaker manager Les
Parry to succeed as manager of Tranmere should he be given the
job on a permanent basis.
Speaking
on BBC Radio 5Live after last nights matches, Nevin spoke
in reply to a text message calling for recognition of the
fantastic job Parry has been doing at Prenton Park.
Nevin
spoke of his respect and admiration for Les, before adding:
"Normally if someone gets a managers job who hasn't been a
player themselves, the players won't be very receptive to it,
they won't have much respect for them. With Les it will be
different. He knows a massive amount about the game and is
well liked and respected by players.
"If ever
a physio was going to become a manager, Les would be the one.
I actually think he would be quite good at it as well!
"I've
never wanted to see anyone do as well as much as I want Les to."
Parry
has guided Rovers off the foot of the League One table and
booked a sealed an FA Cup third round tie at home to Wolves.
He takes Tranmere to Southampton on Saturday looking to extend
their current five-match unbeaten run.
Nevin
can be heard regularly on 5Live as a pundit for Chelsea
matches.
