Rovers
vs Brighton
Wednesday 14th
October, 2009
By Richard Ault
Les
Parry takes charge of Rovers for the second time tomorrow as
Brighton visit Prenton Park in another must-win game.
After losing to Stockport 1-0 on Monday night, Parry admits he
has been tempted to make some changes ahead of this week’s game.
A double training session was held on Thursday as the fitness
levels in the squad continue to be built, whilst Parry has added
Liverpool goalkeeper David Martin to his squad on loan in light
of Luke Daniels’ suspension.
Ian Thomas-Moore and Alan Mahon are both struggling to be fits
due to knocks picked up on Monday, though Chris Shuker and
Michael Ricketts are both pushing for starts and could come in
to replace them. There is no word on whether Sebastien Carole or
Kithson Bain will be included in the squad.
Talking about the visit of Brighton, Parry said:
"It's important we win. I'd love to get a win for my own team
and then move on to the following Saturday.
"I've got to talk to Shaun [Garnett] and Wayne [Allison] and we
might look at a couple of changes. We haven't had a full week
again because of the game on Monday but the lads will be doing a
double session again today. We'll be looking at the DVD today at
some positives and some weaknesses that we can work on today and
tomorrow to tighten us up a bit."
The game kicks off at Prenton Park at 3pm.
TICKET OFFER
Tranmere Rovers are joining forces with the Royal British Legion
to help raise funds for the 2009 Poppy Appeal by putting on a
special offer in the build up to Remembrance Day at the home
game against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, 17 October,
kick off 3pm.
As part of the partnership, admission for servicemen and women
and ex-servicemen has been massively reduced to just £5 (tickets
must be purchased in advance). Admission for Seniors has also
been cut to £5 and is cash on the turnstiles for all stands
except the Main Stand.
Current servicemen and women should present their ID cards at
the Club Shop or Ticket Office to claim their discounted ticket.
Ex-servicemen and women should present their discharge papers
for their discounted ticket.
Chief Executive Mick Horton said the Club was pleased to once
again be working with the Royal British Legion. He commented:
"The Royal British Legion is the leading charity safeguarding
the welfare, interests and memory of those who have served their
country and I would urge Tranmere fans to be generous in their
support of the Poppy Appeal.
"We teamed up with the Royal British Legion in the last two
seasons and were delighted with the response. We are more than
happy to work with them again.
"We recognise the efforts of current and former servicemen and
women and are pleased to be able to offer them reduced admission
to the Brighton game and hope to welcome them back to Prenton
Park in the future."
