Sordell
arrival signals end of long search

Les
Parry's long search for a new striker finally bore fruit
yesterday when he raided Championship club Watford for young
forward Marvin Sordell.
The 18-year-old moves to Prenton Park on a one month loan and
is hopefully eager to make a name for himself in the Football
League.
He turned
pro with the Hornets in the summer and netted his first senior
goal in a Carling Cup match away to Leeds earlier this season.
Described as strong and quick, Sordell is likely to feature at the
very least as a substitute in the relegation
"six-pointer" with Oldham on Saturday.
Talking to
tranmererovers.co.uk about Sordell's arrival, Tranmere boss Les
Parry said: “Marvin is a very promising striker and I’m
delighted to have signed him on loan. We have been short of
goals recently and hopefully Marvin will bring us some added
firepower. He is fast and strong and will be a good addition to
our squad.
“I would like to thank the manager at Watford, Malky Mackay, for
allowing him to come to us.”
Elsewhere
in League One, some of our relegation rivals were also in for
new players, mostly strikers. Gillingham and Oldham - two
of the clubs who were competing with us for Scott Vernon last
week - strengthened their frontlines with the signings of
Southend striker James Walker and ex-Rovers man Jason Price
respectively. Vernon decided on a move to Southend last
week.
Stockport
lost skipper Michael Raynes to Scunthorpe United and replaced
him with former Newcastle and Leeds defender Paul Huntington,
whilst Colchester made David Prutton's move from Leeds permanent
and Carlisle brought in Bristol Rovers striker Daryl Duffy.
